Backgammonis a game of strategy and skill. But at some point of time either online orduring a one on one board game, you will come across people who ÒcheatÓ. A backgammoncheat usually uses the dice as his weapon, since it is usually used to makeallowable moves in a game random. The dice can either be loaded; or he mayround off the edges or make them more of a square than it is originally shaped.This is done in order to make the rolls more likely in their favor than itwould normally be by luck or chance.
Evenon online backgammon games there have been reports of many a backgammoncheat; where the dice rolls are not very randomized. This can be done intwo ways. Ata tournament, if and when a dispute occurs with regards to cheating, thedirector is called to address the dispute and during such time the score,position of checkers and dice will remain unchanged. If the director finds thatthe player has broken any of the rules or is a Ôbackgammon cheatÕ assuch, he will rule that the player be banned from such tournaments untilfurther notice. The player can appeal to the disciplinary committee to justifyhis case. Cheating as such in the board version of backgammon is limited tomeddling with the dice or position of checkers. Whereas in an online game therevarious ways, subtle or obvious where one can ÔcheatÕ .In any case it isunethical!
